Objective : TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF EVERY INDIAN

60 years ago, we were battling to drive the foreigners out of our country. And they were refusing to go. Today, sixty years later, we are begging them to come. And they are refusing to come!

What has happened?

Most states are bankrupt. Inflation is on the rise. The parallel economy is as big as the main stream. Poverty is abject. Death due to hunger is frequent. 50% of Bombay lives in grotesque slums.

There are no plans to correct any of this.

India has 20% of the world population. We have helped build other economies. All we need is the right economic environment.

We have to spur the economy. Generate wealth, distribute wealth and circulate wealth. That shall be our Mantra.

And we shall cease to be a rich nation of poor people!

1 Abolish personal income tax.

2 Rationalize Corporate, Excise and Service Tax and VAT, to achieve the following :

2a Make up the deficit due to abolition of personal income tax

2b Reduce overall cost of tax collection

3 Simplify taxation altogether - eliminate multiple taxation points

4 Freeze all tax rates for 5 years

5 Abolish Octroi

6 Provide priority funding for replacement of polluting dilapidated trucks and buses that are still plying at great threat to life and property.

7 Spur economic activity :

7a Give films, industry status

7b Encourage Recreation centres

             7c All establishments be allowed to remain open as long as they want

8 Towards a new tourism policy, identify 50 national monuments heritage sites. Rehabilitate residents nearby and completely modernize the setting.

9 Privatize the management of these monuments and heritage sites.

10 Build a network of airports on a hub and spoke design.

11 Implement an innovative road transport network plan.

12 Multiply public transport systems 50 fold and make them convenient and comfortable.

13 Start shipping lines for travel on the coast. For example, there is no reason why people cannot go on ship from Chennai to Visakhapatnam, Puri to Kolkata, Vasco to Cochin and Chennai, even Vashi to Apollo Bunder.

14 Support a national initiative to replace old taxies and auto rickshaws by new ones. Install radio networking so that unnecessary movement of empty vehicles is cut out.

15 Initiate innovative taxes. For example :

15a Allot special vehicle numbers to those owners who desire it, against an annual fee

15b Allot lengths of footpaths for maintenance to a Corporate against an annual fee

16 Eliminate theft of electrical power through conscious effort and without political interference.
